The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is an introductory teaching qualification designed for individuals who are new to teaching or training, particularly in the post-16 education sector (further education, adult learning, or workplace training)

About the course

Learners will:

  • Explore professional boundaries, equality, and safeguarding.
  • Gain practical experience through a micro-teach session
    (a short teaching session delivered to peers).
  • Learn to plan lessons, engage learners, and evaluate their own teaching.

Course Entry Requirements:

There are no formal qualification entry requirements that a learner must have completed before taking this qualification and no requirement for learners to have prior skills, knowledge or understanding, but Learners should

be 19 years of age (or older)

have a good level of literacy and numeracy (written assignments)

have access to a computer

It is perfectly true that you do not need a computer or PowerPoint to teach, however as your course is facilitated and supported online with the use of technology, it is important that you show a willingness to develop your skills in this area, as not only will you need to engage and evidence your learning; you are also required to build in the same core skills and competencies to your lessons as a teacher including English, Math and ICT.

It is important that you ensure your skills in this area are at a level (or seek to improve and develop those skills to a level) that you can pass on to other learners that you will be teaching.

Full Time:

How the course is assessed

Learners are assessed by formative and summative, assessments conducted by your facilitator, there are no examination style assessments as part of this qualification.

Formative Assessments:

Formative assessments are an ongoing, overall observation of your skills, abilities, attitudes and working practices; this is done by your facilitator throughout the course to ensure that you have the right attributes appropriate to the role.

Even if you pass all assessments, you still need to demonstrate to your facilitator that you are responsible and capable of the role, otherwise you could still be referred

Summative Assessments:

Summative assessments are final assessments of skills where you have opportunity to demonstrate to your facilitator that you have learned the required knowledge, either by demonstrating activities such as:

  • Micro teach

  • Assessment and sign off of your portfolio (By Group or Cohort) *

For the duration of your qualification you will have access to our Microsoft Office 365 platform which will provide you with:

Certification

Successful learners will receive a Regulated Level 3 Award in Education & Training (RQF) e-Certificate. (Printed Certificates are available at an additional cost)
