Centre Closure Policy

Policy Overview

This document sets out our process and policy in the event where we no longer continue to operate as an approved centre for regulated qualifications.

Whilst we never intentionally plan to be in this position, we recognise that Learners should never be unnecessarily disadvantaged, and have put in place our commitment to Learners to ensure that we make every effort reasonable to see that they have every opportunity to complete their chosen qualification.

Should there be any threat of centre closure, or voluntary surrender of our agreement to operate as a centre, we agree to follow out Policy for Centre Approval or Qualification Withdrawal in the same manner (despite this being a voluntary withdrawal) as it lays out clear steps which we will take in order to protect the interests of Learners on enrolled programmes of study.

If we decide to cease offering regulated qualifications, we will;

  • Notify the Awarding Organisations for which we are registered at the earliest opportunity.
    • We will work openly and in a constructive manner with the respective Awarding Organisation to plan the voluntary withdrawal and create actions which we can take forward to a positive conclusion.
  • Notify all parties involved with any aspect of the qualification delivery (i.e. Tutors, Assessors, IQA’s, Placement Providers, Employers etc) of the intention of voluntary centre withdrawal, and work with all interested parties in the withdrawal plan.
  • Protect the interests of the Learners on enrolled programmes.

We will follow out Policy for Centre Approval or Qualification Withdrawal in the same manner despite this being a voluntary withdrawal;

This could include:

  • Seeking to bring appropriately qualified staff from another approved Centre under the same Awarding Organisation to oversee the final programme of study with the Learners through to completion.
  • Transferring existing learners to another Centre under the same Awarding Organisation to complete their currently enrolled programme of study.
  • Transferring learners to another Awarding Organisation, or Qualification with the same or similar learning outcomes.

What we will do next

Where it is not possible for the learners to complete the qualification at our Centre, no alternative centres are available or are suitable for any of the learners affected by the withdrawal and/or the learners do not wish to carry on with the Qualification or Programme for which they have been registered, SCTNI Limited will seek to ensure that learners are certificated for any units they have completed to date in accordance with the requirements of the associated qualification specification(s)

What if learners are unhappy with the situation?

Where learners are unhappy with the situation, or how SCTNI Limited have dealt with the withdrawal, they should contact the Centre Manager who will provide a response.

If the Learner is not satisfied with the response, he/she can then take the matter through our Complaints arrangements which are outlined in our Complaints Policy.
