This is the new and updated qualification re-launched in June 2025

The Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) is a nationally recognised pre-hospital care (PHC) qualification generally aimed at volunteers, first responders, event first aiders etc.

About the course

This new and improved qualification brings exciting changes that reflect the realities of modern prehospital care. The updated approach enhances practical skills development, ensuring training and assessments aligns closely to real world expectations.

These major updates ensure that this leading qualification not only meets current industry standards but also supports Learners in gaining the confidence, competence, and credentials they need to thrive as a prehospital care (FREC3) provider.

FREC® 3 meets the staffing requirements detailed in the ‘Purple Guide’ for Health, Safety, and Welfare at Outdoor Events. It also adheres to the standards agreed by the First Aid Awarding Organisation Forum (FAAOF) and the Health and Safety Executive for first aid qualifications.

The qualification is suitable for those providing event medical cover or roles such as First Responders, Door Supervisors, Close Protection Operatives and Security Guards, as well as those working in high-risk environments including the military, power stations, offshore renewable energy, agriculture and manufacturing settings
