About the Course
The FutureQuals Level 4 Certificate in Intermediate Response Emergency Care (IREC®4) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for individuals operating in demanding emergency response roles where enhanced assessment, clinical decision-making, and patient care skills are required prior to, or alongside, ambulance service attendance. The course develops advanced competencies in patient assessment and triage, management of complex medical and traumatic emergencies, and effective response to major or multi-casualty incidents.
Delivered through a blend of classroom-based teaching, hands-on practical skills sessions, and realistic scenario-led training, IREC®4 builds situational awareness, dynamic risk assessment, and professional judgement in high-pressure environments. The qualification is comparable in level, scope, and complexity to the Qualsafe Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC®4), making it a suitable alternative pathway for learners seeking a FutureQuals regulated route into intermediate level pre-hospital care.
It is ideally suited to experienced responders, including emergency response drivers, event and security medics, and other operational personnel who require a comprehensive Level 4 emergency care qualification aligned with recognised pre-hospital care frameworks.
